Hello All..
I'm thinking about removing the small stones in my goldfish tank and replacing with coins (quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies). Interesting conversation piece.
Would this be harmful to the fish?
Thanks in advance,
Tami

I don't think that would be very good for your fish because at places that have ponds on display with fish in them they always have signs that say "Please Don't Throw Coins into this water feature) So they probably mean don't throw coins in here because they will probably leach out harmful substances into the water.
Thats just what i think, someone on here probably knos more, so i hope they will respond.

Coins will be deadly to the fish. They are metals and are not recommended to be in the water.
While a cute idea for a conversation piece, you will kill the fish.

you could try those plastic toy coins..but i think they would float.. could silicon them all into a pile

Thank you everyone for your helpful advise : ) While I like the idea of having a fish tank that is interesting and different than everyone else, I more like the idea of my fish being alive and well.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!
