I want to thank the two people who replied to my post this week about spawning with my male betta.
As much as I would like to experience doing it, I've decided against it.
I found a pet store about 30 minutes away that imports bettas regularly, the fish they had on their website looked fantastic.
I thought I would get a couple females from there and breed with nice imported females, but then decided the best route would probably just pick up some nice males there in the colors I want:) It would be very hard to get the colors I want from my male, and when I actually sat down and took a hard look at him I noticed that his "belly" fin (I'm in an anatomy class but the correct word won't come to me, LoL) is irregular, with two lobes rather than one. Best not breed on something undesirable.
I saw yellows and greens in the pictures on their page! Whoo oo! Crowntails and half moons and double tails, oh my!
Ever since I found their website my boyfriend and I have been itching to go down there, but our first free night was tonight and since tomorrow is payday, we don't have much extra money.. booo. So tomorrow night we are heading down early to do some serious betta shopping - hurray!
