I recently bought the banana lilly (a plant that has what looks like a bunch of flowers for roots only they sit above the ground.
I was just wondering if there is a certain way to look after it? whether it needs trimming now and then, it you need to pull the flower off when it gets to the end. (some plants require this, it makes them grow better and flower faster.)
thanks for your help.

I have one. It just sank to the bottom when I put it in. It does need good light otherwise the leaves will grow all the way to the top of the tank. I have not moved mine in with the goldfish yet. I just trim leaves as they start to die.

I read some where that banana lilies often don't last a very long time in the aquarium. Does anyone know if this is true? I like the look of them, but was wondering how long anyone has had one

Have you ever tried one of the varieties of nymphaea in your tank, Koko? They are small waterlilies, and I have had wonderful success with a red leaved one. As long as you take off any aerial leaves, they stay submerged, and mine has been very easy to grow.
