Hi all - Wondered if any of you have experienced this? My Eheim starting making funny noises. The power went of for a moment, so I had the disconnect the Eheim and empty it out, and reconnect it to get it going again (you Eheimers know what I mean, I hope...). While I had it open, I added an Eheim mesh bag to hold the Ehfisubstrat so removal would be faster and easier. It should not affect the function of the filter. Oh, ans I switched the tube length. I didn't change anything else - just put it together and started it again.

Well, it started making funny *whoosing* noises - almost as if all of a sudden a large amount of water was being pushed through at once... Actually, it is the same sound as when you move the filter while it is in operation - that flushy noise. But, it happens periodically (but not in regular increments) and spontaneously - no one has touched the canister! So, I turned it off, put the short tubes back the way they were, and removed the filter bag (thinking somehow that might have something to do with it... ) and restarted it. So, it was exactly the way it was before - perfectly.

It was fine for two days, then it started up again. The noise is not as frequent or as forceful but it it is still occurring. ANY IDEAS?!?!?! THANKS! (new Eheim 2215)

Im no expert on these but it sounds to me like you still might have air in the actual chamber. Hope someone can help.

its air. as long as your pumping water your eheim is ok. give it some time for all the air to get flushed out.

i dont think adding a bag matters. the material probably just grabbed more air in the system and thats why you noticed it right away.

Thanks! I tinkered abround with it and got the air out! Thanks! I was so releived to know that it was not the impeller or something mechanical! But, I do feel silly as priming it is not all that hard but I managed to do it badly! next time, I will try not to rush when I am in a hurry! THANKS! biggrin.gif
