Ok I just got my first betta today.
I'm very happy. Hes beautiful! heartpump.gif
I love him so much! heartpump.gif
I was wondering if the bigger the tank bettas have is it exactly better than the smaller ones.
I got him a five gallon Hex5 aquarium.
Is five gallons going to be enough?
And ive heard that if you put two bettas in one aquarium they fight until one dies????
Is this true? crap.gif Because if its true then im not buying another.
I felt sorry for one at the store. He was floating at the top and still breathing?
I now have a beautiful Red and Purple Betta! heartpump.gif

5 gallons would be fine for a Betta. Definitly don't put two males in there together because they will fight to the death. He should be fine if he was floating at the top (right side up). Bettas usually sleep that way. Good luck with your new Betta!! heartpump.gif

it's true you can't put male betta's with other males or females. from what i read on here you can put female bettas together no less than 4-5 if you have a big enough tank and plenty of hiding places for them cause they can attack each other too so you have to watch them carefully.

and congrats on the new fish newfish.gif

Congrats on the new betta! 5 gallons is a mansion for him - he will love it! Do you have some hidey places for him?

Congrats on the new Betta! I just got one also. I think part of the reason you would have seen him at the surface is because they also have a air sac like a lung that allows them to breath like we do as well as having gills. So you will see it surface often. biggrin.gif
