I have been dosing my tank to .1% during the nitrite spike to help my fish. Now that my tank is cycled should I continue to salt or phase it out. I heard different schools of thought on this one.

Also, my ph out of my tap is 7.6-7.8 but in the tank it is 8.0. (I have carbon dioxide in my water). I let the water sit to bring it to 8. Should I get a product to bring my ph to 7.2 or leave it at 8 because it is constant there?

Congrats on being cycled!

I would discontinue the salt. There is no need to continue adding it to the tank. The salt will eventually be removed with your water changes.

I wouldn't adjust your water's ph. 8.0 is fine. Mine is at 8. Just monitor it to be sure it doesn't fluctuate.

Thanks for the info. I never thought I would cycle. It took two months!!!! I thought I would discontinue and then I read somewhere that people keep salt at .1 as a tonic. Is there any benefit to this?
