I saw some at my pet store (For the first time).

Anyways, they are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tiny and small !!!
they might grow to 3 inches - but that's probably referring to their length, not their width/fatness !!! that's freaken tiny !!

they burrow in the gravel and hide in the rocks and driftwood.
They aren't very active, sleeping most of the time.

anyways, they are soooooo tiny and skinny that I saw some of them go inside the filter intake !!
and I saw some of them squeeze thru the tank dividers and go to the other tank (which was stupid because he got eaten by cichlids) !!

i'm very hesistant to buy them - not because you will never see them, but because they might get eaten, or commit suicide in the filter intake!!

what is your opinion on this
Marx
I think it's better not to buy them if you suspect them being eaten. They can sting and do look like nice dinner to most fish.

Having had them, and rarely if ever seeing them, i wouldnt recommend them. They were cool, but I had them with very small, laid back goldies and they had tons upon tons of hiding places. Overall, its not really worth your while. smile.gif

I saw some black (ALL-black, NO stripes) kuhli loaches.

they were called "black kuhli loaches"

are these more rare??

do they mind if I mix the colours ??
would they school better if I kept only one species ??

i heard there is an albino kuhli loach too !!

I ended up buying some Khuli Loaches !!!

I bought 3 -
2 orange/black stripe
1 black
(feng shui)

Anyways, I managed to find some adult ones !!
they were long and fat - NICE !!
I put them in my tank - they are so active, they don't hide at all - they just sunbake (so-to-speak)

very cool.

hey there, how are the Kuhli loaches working out? I'm thinking of getting some, they're the only loaches I can ever find that I can afford.

Just wondering if that driftwood is all that you have in that tank? Kuhli's really need a lot of hidey holes, and plants to hang out under ,especially as your Goldies grow Bigger. They're not like Dojo's,they won't get near as long or as thick, and can actually be eaten quite easy by a bigger fish when out in the open like that. They're of course going to hide more, but they'll feel alot safer in the tank. wink.gif

I moved my khulis to another tank with more tropical fish (angels, cories)
and they seem much happier.

They didn't seem happy with my goldfish (i kept them with my 3 bubble-eyes)
Despite bubble-eyes being the slowest goldfish - they still ate all the food sad.gif
and my khuli loaches spent more time hiding and eventually didn't come out during dinner time sad.gif

I think if you are going to keep khuli loaches - try to keep them with other small fish (eg. cories) - because big fish like goldfish steal all the food.

hmmm, I guess I wont be getting those. My goldies are small now but they'll be growing...

if you are looking for tank mates for your goldfish
try some white clouds OR danios OR weather loaches/dojo (they are a bigger version of the khuli loach)

biggrin.gif I feel much better knowing that! laugh.gif Kuhli's belong with little tropical fish rather than Goldies. I actually have foru of them that I keep with half a dozen of Cherry Red Shrimp in a planted tank. It's a cool little tank! Glad your Kuhli's are happier!

Khulis are cool smile.gif

I have one in my 50 gal tropical and he muscles in on the tetras and corys when it comes to feeding time - he gopes wild when I add bloodworm.
