Full Version: Bristlenose Pleco Slow-growers?
I read somewhere that bristlenoses are slow-growers, but in the one month I got my two bristlenoses, they've grown noticeably bigger, as much as about 1.5 times their original body length when i got them unbelieveable!

they were 4 cm long and now they're pushing 6 cm 
i feed them algae wafer & zucchini slices, and boy don't they love the zucchini

Mine love zucchini, too, and have stopped growing at about 5" (12.5 cm) in length (including the tail).

That's interesting, I wondered how big they would get. 12.5cm is pretty big!
I have also had mine for a couple of months, maybe 3 months, and I can tell they have grown but I'm not sure how much. They are about 3" or 7.5cm now.

Yeah I guess so
, but still surprises me that bristlenoses can grow that fast

same thing is happening to my bristlenose.
He was less than an inch (3 months ago)
he is now over 1.5 inches !!!

they get Uglier the bigger they grow

Mine are both females, and the females don't develop the large bristles like the males do.
how often do you feed yours zucchini? I do drop in algae wafers but the goldies get it all and he/she doesn't get a look in. And do you take the skin off the blanced zucchini?

I give mine the zucchini 2-3 times per week. I leave the skin on, since the goldfish will eat the soft centre of the zucchini, but the bristlenose loves the skin
