Tiny....I love it! That's funny because when I got my 2nd Cana Apple Snail Baby,I named him Tiny-and for anyone who knows snails, knows that Tiny they are not!

Glad to hear that you're keeping one!

Thanks everyone.
They are more angel-like now and you can see what colour they are going to be. One is going to look like his mum but he has a black cap on his head.
Heres mum and dad
Dads the black marble and mums the koi.

How cute, Sandy! Congrats on your new family! Tiny is very sweet! So little!
How large do Angelfish get and what kind of care do adults need?

They get to around 6 inches in diameter but its the long fins that need the room adding up to another 6 inches vertically on some fish. The wild caught altum needs a 2 foot deep tank minimum but most tank breds can get away with 18 inches deep.
Like fancy goldfish they need a minimum of 10 gallons (please dont anyone assume that a 10 gallon tank will be fine, it isnt. These fish need lots of swimming room) each but unlike goldies they get more aggressive as they get older.
They cant/shouldnt be kept with small fish such as tetras as that is the natural prey but fish over 2 inches are fine.
If you dont want a breeding pair then only put one in and it will be fine with most fish.
If you want to breed then a 55 gallon and half a dozen young angels will give you a pair.
They arent too fussy when it comes to food but are mainly carnivores.
I love angels, they have personality and arent afraid of anything once they have settled in.

good info there sands

i have to say though - i keep my 2 angels with tetras that have been in there with them since they were babies, and they get on fine.i guess it might just have been to do with the fact that they have been together for a very long time,

This is a very dangerous thread for me. I had a tropical tank when I was a young teenager (centuries ago) and my favorite fish were my angels. Looking back I can't imagine how I kept anything alive.
Those babies are too cute. They even give puppies and kittens a good run for their money.
Where oh where could I squeeze in another tank? How oh how can I justify spending more money?

Thanks for the info, Sandy! I just saw some friends who told me they have an angel fish that they just upgraded to a 3g tank! It was in one gallon before. I don't know how long they have had it but it sounded to me like they needed some info. so they can be prepared for upgrades! I didn't want to freak them out so I did not say much but I did say how "big" they get and that it would probably need a bigger tank and a certain chape to allow for it's own shape! I will pass this info. on to them as soon I can do it but when the time is right! THANKS!
