i wanna get a good fancy goldfish flake or pellets but there seems to be lots of different brands so i wanna know which one I should get for fancy goldfish.

I prefer pellets - but that could depend on the type of goldies being fed... Flakes can cause GF to ingest too much air from eating at the surface (which could lead to swim bladder issues) but if you have a fish like a celestial, it might be recommended. I have a telescope and sinking pellets are a necessity.

I have been very happy with Pro-Gold. I was using Hikari pellets before and they were adequate but I saw a big difference when I switched to the Pro-Gold (and even bigger when I swithced to making gel food - but that's not relevant now).

i've never seen pro-gold before in my local fish store or hikari. the only i saw was top fin or nutrifin.

You could also look for wardley, or order the ones that Grahmm mentioned out of a catalog. Or try Big Al's on line store. Do you have a petsmart near by, they have a huge variety of flakes/pellets. biggrin.gif

A word of caution... Pro-Gold is serious stuff, it is what professional goldfish breeders use to get the best results in their fish. If you look at http://www.goldfishconnection.com (makers of Pro-Gold) and check out their fish gallery, you will know what I mean. For top of the line showfishes, fat is desired, and rest assured that Pro-Gold will make your fish fat!
I've only fed Pro-Gold to my little fishies for a week and they're already noticably fatter! I believe to keep a goldfish lean you must keep the protein in the diet to 30% or so. I think Pro-Gold has like 60%...
Also, if you do feed your fancy goldfishes any of these foods, do not forget to also use a spirulina flake or peas as supplement... their shape means that their digestive tract is not as straight as common goldfish (or any fish) and it must be cleaned out with one of these natural laxatives at least twice a week or so.

I dunno if the brand is available in the US or not, but i use Sera Goldy Royal pellets, mixed with Hikari Lionhead. Seems to work very well for me (ranchu noticeably fatter biggrin.gif)

I use Wardleys, BioGold and Top Fin - all are good, I switch between the 3, gel food and fresh food.

EDIT: All 3 brands can be purchased either at PetSmart or Wal-Mart

Hi, I feed all of my goldies on Tetra goldfish food becauseit is the best I can get where I am at. Also I had a friend who raises fish look at it first and he told me it is a very well balanced food and if he was going to have goldies it would probably be what he would use. But Everything else that has been mentioned is also very good. You might try having a variety of feeds and see which one your fish seem to do best on.

is nutrafin spirulina and color enchantsment good? i saw like deep freeze food pellets with brine shrimp or earthworms bits but its only for tropical fish cuz the label said so.
