Hello everyone. I read on the "fish Poop" page about the long thin no color poo and that it may be internal parasites and that "peepers" should be fed medicated food only for a while. Could someone please help with the specifics.
-What medicated food? What's it called and where do I find it?
-What is the routine.. no food.. medicated... how much ... how long etc. crap.gif

Thanks again for your help in advance!!

Hi - I just wanted to say that you might want to run your problem by the Disease and Diagnosis board before deciding to feed medicated foods - it might not be necessary, it might not be the right med for the situation, etc.

Medicated food is food with the medicine (usually antibiotics) already mixed into it. I know of two kinds, both called MediGold (one by Hikari and one by Goldfish Connection - GC). GC also makes a medicated food called Metro-Meds which has a different combination of antiobiotics. www.hikari.com www.goldfishconnection.com

The regime is usually no other food, only the medicated food for a course of two weeks. Most of these drugs will also compromise the good bacs in the gut. Also, the fish can build resistance to antibiotics so it is best to be more certain about using them before treating. As with any antibiotic, it should not be stopped b/c the symptoms have gone away; the whole treatment should be given. The box/bottle should come with specific instructions and those are what should be followed.
