I know that there have been many rants about nnnnnn on the goldfish pages, but the condition I found the bettas in this evening was truly horrifying. The fish were in their typical "shot" glasses of water, and the bottom of the cup was covered, litterally COVERED with feces. To top that, all of the fish had fin rot, some so badly that their fins were gone, just little stubs remained. One poor fish was even missing the lower part of his body. I can't belive they treat living animals that way!

I know what you mean... the only place I have around here to buy fish is nooppee (fortunately, mine have cleaned up their act when ti comes to the goldfish so I can get healthy ones there now). I have only ever seen one Betta at nnnnnn that didn't have horrible fin rot. He actually didin't have any, and his shot glass was clean. He must have been brand new. I brought him home and had him for a few months and he just died. I'm thinking it may have been old age.

I have the sickening feeling that places like this don't even care ofr the bettas. They just put them in the little containers, throw in a bit of food and put it ont he shelf never to bother it again unless the fish is dead or sold, whichever comes first.
