sexing goldfish isn't the easiest thing to do, and almost impossible when they are still small.
Did you see the picture about the differences in their anal area? That should help somewhat. In case you didn't find it, here it goes....

Males also develop so called breeding stars on their gills and the first rays of their pectoral fins, and they look somewhat like raised white pimples, being a little rough to the touch. The female bellies are uneven when looked on it from above due to the developing eggs inside of her.
The pectoral fins on the male would also be thicker than the one from the female.
Other than that, it is really hard. If you have only 2 fish, it is sheer luck to have one male/1 female. With more fish in a tank, your chances are better on having at least one female or one male present.
