My fish speedy has started floating at the top tipping over then swimming really fast and swimming normal then he goes to the top and he does it over again. Some bubbles came out his poop thinger. Is it swim bladder thinger

I change ther water every weekend 25%. I put the waste control, cycle thing every week. He eats fine.

Robert, there is a big red box on top of the emergency section - can you answer as many questions as you can? That way we get a much better picture on how your Speedy is housed, and all the other important details.
What kind of food are you feeding him, how often, do you soak it?
robertcrowe
Ok

PH was different then usually so i used some ph bull-eyes.
I got 2 fish that are about 2 inchs and a 1 fish that is 1 inch in a 10 gallon(i know that is to small but i keep it well kept)
I change the water once a week 25% and add chemicals.
I vacum the rocks every 2 weeks.
I dont have any tests yet i am hoping to get some
It is a 10 gallon and has been running for 7 months
I got aqua clear mini and a aqua clear(one above the mini) on the tank I clean the filters every 2 weeks.
I feed them Nuturfin or whatever hagen makes floating pellets.
i feed them twice a day.
There are no findings on this fish
He pooped out a bubble and one of his pieces of pooped floated to the top.
I got a video of his behavior but its a mov file so i dont know what it opens in.

Hi Robert - a similar thing happened to my little fat 'Chubbs'. She would poop bubbles and float to the top after feeding.

Anyhoo, I reduced her feeding to 5 times a week and started her on sinking food ie. gel food, sinking pellets and all sorts of veggies - this stopped her eating at the surface and ingesting a whole lot of air.

What are your feeding habits? Does the food sink to the bottom before he eats?
robertcrowe
It wasn't after feeding it was all day. He is the one who loves food so he eats it up realy quick at the top.

He seems much better today. He is back to his lifly self. He is dieing for food. I did not feed him last night and this morning. Should i feed them peas for a week.
Ranchugirl
Peas wouldn't hurt, and should be part of any goldfishs diet anyhow. A whole week isn't neccessary, once or twice a week is fine. If you can find it, try to get sinking pellets like Jen suggested - it really cuts down on the "surface eating" and floating, since the fish won't absorb air at all with sinking pellets. You can soak them a couple of minutes before feeding as well....
Glad your little guy does better! thumbup.gif
