All of the sudden I have green algea in my tank, everywhere !! Is this stuff bad ? I was reading a post, and someone was talking about green & brown algeas ... what is the difference ? Is one good, and one bad ? I was wondering if I should get an algea eater, like a pleco or something ?? I already have a full house though ... (3 fishies in 29 gallon ..... ) Just wondering ... this stuff is ugly & spreading like a plauge !!!!

Green Algea is great. It looks pretty and the fish love it. I am seeding my tank with algea, and it still wont grow...*sighs* some day!

it's quite okay. it's just some people's preference to have clear water cos green water hindered the view of the fishies biggrin.gif keep the water "greenish" maybe but not until real cloudy laugh.gif that's what i'm trying to do anyway

Green Algae grows in healthy water!! exactly.gif

(but if you want less of it you have to cut back on your lighting. Especially direct sunlight!)

yeah.gif oh JOY !!!! Thanks you all, i am so surprised by this ! It makes me feel so great to know that this is a good sign !!! YEAH FOR GREEN ALGEA ! exactly.gif
d_golem
do u need a special lighting to foster green algae growth? excluding sunlight of course
kyfishlvr
im not sure what caused it to start growing, my tank gets a few hours of sunlight in the morning ... thats about it, I just have the regular light, that came with the tank . It was weird, just like 2 weeks ago the algea started growing. I went out & got an algea scraper, and had been cleaning it off of everything ... i thought it was a bad thing ! I guess I'll just let it grow ... I was thinking,I might just clean it off of the very front, so I can still have a clear view of my fishies. Thanks for sending me that website, it was SO cool, I checked it out for awhile last night ... smile.gif

Every once in awhile I scrap it off the glass. I don't want it to "take over".
