I've tried lightly cooked cucumber to feed my bristlenoses and they doesn't seem to like it that much. Will I fare better with a zucchini then?

cheers wink.gif

smile.gif My Bristles love Cukecumber & Zuchinni. I personally cook it until it's pretty soft though. They seem to enjoy it,and eat it right up.It just seems to sit there when I leave it somewhat firm.

thx devs, i'll try cooking it until soft.

rolleyes.gif Most times after you cook them, they will sink down. laugh.gif

unsure.gif It may just be the fact that it's something new for him.Any other fish give it a try?I'd try it a couple days in a row. You'll of course have to use fresh Zuchinni each time though. If I recall,my Bristles didn't go fo it at first-not until they realized that the snails were devouring it! laugh.gif Oddly enough though, the newborn Albino Bristle Babies went to it almost immediately, which is odd, because it was a first time for them...Hmm....... unsure.gif

My goldies immediately went for the zucchini when i put it in, although it seems they weren't exactly sure what to do with it biggrin.gif

Ah I just checked the other side of the slice and it's been eaten biggrin.gif i dunno by the goldies or the bristlenoses, but it looks like chewed on methodically (a concave round depression to the edge of the slice) rather than pecked continuously, so i'd say my bristlenoses ate it laugh.gif thx for the advice devs wink.gif

Ah sad.gif i just tried putting in a slice of cooked zucchini again and my goldies immediately ate it. it seems that last night it was the goldies after all, not the bristle noses. i also tried algae discs, but it seems the goldies are more fond of it then the bristlenoses *sigh* how am i gonna feed my dear bristlenoses then?

edit: news flash! just saw a bristlenose gorging itself on the zucchini while fending off the the goldies biggrin.gif yay!

laugh.gif YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told you it may take a couple days.My goldies are PIGS!!! But even if they do eat the veggies I put in for the snails etc.,there are always little floaty pieces flying around the tank.Apparently your Bristle is feeling more comfortable, and realizes Feast or Famine! spit.gif:Now that he's figuring it all out,you can try lots of other things. My Bristles love frozen spinach thawed/cooked/Mustard Greens/Kale/Collard Greens,Squash/Zuchinni/cukecumber's/etc.They have learned from the snails how Yummy it all is! Try Green Beans too! laugh.gif

Wowo that's alot of different kinds of veggies u can feed your bristle blink.gif i think my bristles will end up eating more kinds of veggies than i do laugh.gif btw all those veggies will sink if i cook them, rite? and i thought the green bean's skin is too tough for them?

Most should sink for you,and if they don't ,a clip is only a buck or two at the dollar store. In one tank,I even use a pretty rock.As for green beans, most people use canned, rinsed well of course. If you use fresh, then you'd probably have to cook them to soften them up. smile.gif
d_golem
Hehe i think the bristles really like the zucchini biggrin.gif the center is almost completely holed out.
I'll try some other veggies you suggested. If they wont sink, I''ll probably just tie them down to a rock. Any veggies that are a "no-no" to feed to bristles (and goldfish)?
