These are just over a week old and have been put into a 16 gallon with their mum. They are so sweet Theres about 30 of them

Oh my Sandy they are so tiny! Congratulations on the new arrivals.
Do Angelfish have any special maternal qualities? Obviously they are not like goldies or they would eat the babies.

Like all cichlids they will defend and care for their young. She even attacks me when i feed them

Jeepers, I didn't even realise they were cichlids! That sort of behaviour would be something to see.

I would dearly love a tropical community tank but I honestly have no room, unless I venture into the bedrooms which hubby says is a no-no.
I am trying not to buy anymore goldfish so that one day, due to natural attrition, I will have an available tank. Not a pleasant thought really. So one the one hand I would really like tropicals, on the other hand I hope I have my goldfish for a long time to come. Catch 22.

I love angel fish...they remind me of being a child and watching them swim about in my baby sitters tank..<3 They're so beautiful.

Sandy theyre beautiful! Keep us posted as they grow.That's one reason I love Cichlids,they take care of their broods. Congrats-you go girl!

Theyve been doing the old mating ritual,with the lip locking,etc.But I haven't seen anymore eggs.Tell you the truth,they havent laid eggs since I started doing more frequent water changes because of the dirtball Plec's! They like that lower ph,and all those water changes have brought it up a little higher than usual.With all these Bristlenose babies,maybe thats a good thing.
