Tazz Knight
congrats on your second breeding badge and on your success in raising your fry...I knew you could do it yeah.gif
OldHag
Thanks! To all breeding experts out there, I'd like to ask, if the fry color indicates the future color. I have some pale fry (pinkish, kind of see-through) and some that are dark. I wonder if the pale ones are gonna be shubunkies?? And the dark ones will be common? Anyone that has the experience??
Ranchugirl
Could easily be, yes. Or an all white fish, possibly. Do you see any other color on your monster fish, or just paleness? I don't see anything but pink... laugh.gif
Tazz Knight
color can be an indication, but not a definite...I have had the same think happen to me and some of the pales have turned white while others are a yellowish gold, while the darks are still dark for now though shome have an emerald green shine to them
OldHag
Monster fry is all pale, yes! I hope he/she/it becomes a shubunkie, calico colored or at least like mom, Gullet! smile.gif
OldHag
I have nitrite in the fry tank. Maybe the sponge filter isn't sufficient. To lower nitrites I change water everyday and replace it with the cycled water from parents tank.
Maybe the water won't cycle in that small tank with sponge filter. It's 10 g but only half filled.
Tazz Knight
when the fish get bigger..they can handle the tank being a little more filled...the remaining fry(that I have your to move into the 29 gallon & the fancy fry) are in a full filled 10 gal heartpump.gif

keep up the good work mommy
OldHag
A pic! This is Monster Fry with 2 smaller ones. Monster is short and fat and pink/red in color. I guess it's a female, a new Gullet! but that's just a guess...

She looks very pretty!Have you thought of a name for her?Or will she keep the name monster? laugh.gif
Ranchugirl
Wow, how much bigger exactly than the others is that "monster"?? Thud.gif You can call her KingKong! laugh.gif Or Pinky....
How old is Monster now?
OldHag
Monster is as long as the biggest dark fry, but "she" is fatter biggrin.gif looks like Gullet in the body shape, that's why I think it's a she!
They are born (hatched?) late july, will be 3 months now...
OldHag
An explaining pic, you can see the sizes.
