Full Version: Should I Soak Their Freeze-dried Bloodworms?

Just wondering if I should soak their freeze-dried bloodworms too? I also lost 2 Bettas (RIP Finny and Flash) to the internal bacterial problem due to constipation, because back then I had no idea that the pellets were bad... but I did start noticing after they passed away that my remainding Betta's are OK with the bloodworms. Last night though, Flame got bloated again, I don't know why so I will try soaking them from now on and feeding some gel food which I have made for my goldie.

Also, what else is a good diet for Bettas? I have frozen Brine shrimp and mosquito larvae... is that OK? I get a bit paranoid of live food as the local fish store said sometimes they can carry bacteria, and the frozen food I have may be better unless they were very picky or something.

I don't want to lose any more Bettas to the terrible suffering I lost my other two too sad.gif Thanks guys!

I feed frozen bloodworms and my bettas go nuts for peas. I guess nobody told them they were carnivors!

A meaty diet is prefered. I feed live, but then I culture my own. But basicly, frozen and freeze dried worms/daphnia/shrimp and such are great. Might I suggest fasting one or two random days a week to let their systems pass, and a pea here and there does wonders.

How much do you feed them each day?

Once a day

Lol I mean like how much? tongue.gif Bettas don't need that much food at all. I've been feeding mine 1 pellet twice a day cuz I really need to keep the ammonia down, but you don't really need to feed more than that. I had a betta a long time ago and he got sbd because I fed him too much. A couple days of fasting and he was all better smile.gif

Lol.. yeah well sometimes on accident I'll get a little too much when I pinch the food and put it in (bloodworms). From now on I will throw in only one or two at a time smile.gif Yeah, and I also fast them for a day here and there too.

fasting is good too smile.gif
