I just traded my brother an old pagoda I had in a tank for a rock with holes through it for my betta tank the only thing is he had it in his goldfish tank and it is covered with green algae and I don't want to introduce algae into my tank. I do have three snails in my tank though, two of which would eat the algae but should I risk it? How can I go about getting it clean otherwise?

NOthing a nice tooth brush wouldn't do.... One that hasn't been used before - obviously - and all you need is a bit or muscle strength. Scrubbing the algae off is the fastest and easiest way....

I agree with Andrea, A tooth brush would be good. If im not mistaken Some Aquarium salt would help too.

A toothbrush eh? I never would have thought of that and yet it seems so obvious! Some one that I'm mad at! Thanks so much!

If you let the rock set in water for a day or so, then tank a toothbrush and some sand (or something else abrasive) and scrub it really good. I say to let it soak so the algea comes off easier.
