We had a little incident with our new Panda tonite. In syphoning off some water for a water change, the panda accidently ran into the end of the tube, leaving a small but significant closed injury where his telescope eye joins his body. It now looks like there's a blood blister between his eye and his head. sad.gif

He's in a 5 gallon eclipse, 0 ammonia and nitrites and 7.2 PH. No NitrAtes at all yet......(newish tank)

We put in a tablespoon of salt, and a half teaspoon of Melafix. Anything else anybody can think of we can do to prevent a problem? Things to look for to head one off?

I'm feeling kinda ill that i hurt him unintentionally, but i couldnt get the tube away fast enough....... sad.gif

Sorry to hear of your accident. I almost did the same thing with my Moor, luckily, I saw him just in time, so I pulled the syphon away before it fully locked onto his eye.

I think you're doing all there is to do. Just maintain perfect water conditions, which may prove difficult with a cycling tank. Change most, if not all the water every day?
