Full Version: Serious Help With Red Cap Oranda!

My fish named Voda, my red cap is dying..... He hasnt eaten and doesnt want to eat anymore and yet he looks like hes been filled with an airpump. all bloated and fatter than usual...that he cant hardly swim anymore. All hes scales are like seperated out of the bloatiness....and on his fins on the bottom....just where the fins starts they are coming red tiny tiny little dots....What can I do????????????? Some sort of disease???????? I need urgent help!!!!

it sounds to me like your fish has dropsy, which is not good sad.gif other members might be able to give better opinion, but it sounds like it to me. do the scales make the fish look like a pinecone?

if you look on this site for the disease information bit, it will tell you more, and give you pictures to compare your fish with.

It sounds like dropsy. cry3.gif Very serious and can be cured if caught early enough and very special attention to the care. Try this link:

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ADVICE....BUT IF VODA HAD DROPSY SHOULDNT HE LOOK LIKE A PINE CONE LIKE YOU SAID???? WELL...he doesnt up to now!!! only scales seperated. no pine cone look. only swelling and lost of apetite!!!

SADLY MY VODA DIED YESTERDAY!!!! i feel so sad right now.....I read in the internet that it couldve been Eggs that werent coming out like it supposed too!!! When I got home after College......voda was more bloated than ever...I felt soo so so Sorry for her or him!!!!! There was red weird marks on the abdomen....Like red Spots......All over....I feel so bad.I wished I couldve helped Voda!!!! cry3.gif

I'm so sorry to hear that poor Voda died! cry3.gif I recently lost my Oranda named Panda to what sounds to be the same thing, so I know exactly how you feel! Good luck in the future. I'm very sorry about your loss. *hugs*
