I have a bubble wall and ever day I am in there re attaching the dang thing! it is aggravating me and scares the heck out of fishie.

So, any magic tips on how to make the suctions hold?

i sometimes have to weigh suction things down with stones. or place a stone in front of it to stop it from moving. not ideal, but it works.

well it's popping right off the wall, not just moving..... literally pops off, goes to the stop and stops putting air into his tank. If it does it and I am not home he could be without air pump for hours :|

I wonder if sticking it to the floor would be better than sticking it to the wall. Maybe I will try that today with the tank change....... hhmnn

i would say that that would be ab better idea!! smile.gif

Hi,

Suction cups do both what they are meant and not meant to do....they suck smile.gif

Eventually I gave up on them and just dangled the heavy airstones by the airline, sort of like an anchor or fishing weight.

I have found that plastics in a fish tank - those left underwater for long lengths of time, eventually lose their plasticizers - that which makes them flexible. When this happens the suction cups get stiff. The clear plastic replacement ones you can buy in a package do this fairly quickly. When they go opaque white, instead of clear, they are reaching the end of their lives.

Even the fancy green and black ones that come with bubble bars, filter spray bars, heater covers and heaters also eventually loose their flexibility and need to be replaced.

I replace suction cups often. I have never found any that fit certain brands of bubble bars (green), nor have I found replacements for the ones on the heater covers, so I simply do not purchase that brand of bars or cover anymore.

well the bubble bar is not too expensive to replace every few months, like 2.00 or something hehehehe so that is ok with me.....

but they are nowhere near old yet.... less than a month.

I think part of it may be that they lifted a bit and got slimy under there (fishie likes to swim behind the bar so he bumps it a lot).

thanks for the heads up on the old cups though!

as for the air stone, If I took out my bubble wall now, fishie would hate me. He lovessssssssss to surf across the long wall of bubbles lol
