ok, so I have been "babysitting" a Julii cory for a friend while he's out on his mission, for about a year now. (He's mormon, and will be gone for 2 years) Anyway, i feel really bad, i know cories are group guys, but everyfriend i have brought him has died... so for the last 8 months or so, he was alone. Well, last night a customer returned a julii with a "curved back" (i think he just likes to sit funny, but anyways) and so I took him home, along with one more. Since my first cory was alone I had him in a 3 gallon, which i know is to small for the 3 of them, so I poped them in with my small moore, in his ten.
So here are my questions- Will they be alright with Mo in the ten for a little while till i can get a ten tropical going? (need space and $$) and is flouright alright substrate for cories? my old guy was just on pea gravel, but i heard that its hard on their barbells, and his little whiskers are MUCH shorter then the others...
(the other reason why i have this cory is that my friend also wasnt feeding it... He had the cory in with a german ram and a clown pleco in a 5 gallon planted, and the ram ate all of the cories fins and whiskers off! poor little guy!)

yes,How big is Mo? There are alot of people who keep Cory's with their Goldfish, and have no problems,But in the same respect, there have been a few that did have a problem. I have a 30 gal. with Orandas and Cory's.As of now,I've never had any problems. There are also lots of plants/hidey holes in there for them too. I just saw that you said Mo was small.I think that the three Cory's will be fine for a while in this tank with Mo. Flourite is fine-any small gravel that is soft with rounded edges, and sand is fine.Wouldn't recommend sand if it was for goldfish though.I think that the hardest thing on their barbells & whiskers, are digging through the gravel in a dirty tank. That will erode them down to nothing & cause secondary infections more than anything I think.

I currently have some corys sharing a 10 gallon tank with a small goldfish without any problems. You just have to make sure that the corys get food since goldfish are such piggies
I have found that if the corys have to scavenge too much (for example, the other fish are eating everything and there isn't any food left), they can wear their barbels down even on rounded gravel. I had this once happen before I realized what was happening. I removed the corys from the tank with the other fish and once on their own, they did grow their barbels back.
Please keep us posted on how it goes

Mo is about 2 inches from nose to tailbase... with his tail though he's nearly 4 inches. I forgot, I also have his black mystery snail in there... Im gunna be keping a VERY carefull eye on my water perams, i know this is alot of critters for a ten.... (makes me nervose!)
Im feeding Mo sinking pellets, that i kinda sprinkle along the tank floor for him to hoover, and the cories follow behind him picking up what he missed! Its adorable! then the snail comes and gets the last left overs. Im also tossing in hikari catfish wafers for the snail and cories. Well, they seem alright!
