my bowfront tank makes the water look a little green. is that normal? its a 72 gallon Oceania. i know its not the water or the filter for sure. i think it's the natural glass color that i am seeing. does anyone know if its just me or all bowfronts are like this?
daryl
I have not noticed that. Could it have an antireflective coating? That can look greenish. Could the sealant in the corners be colored -from medications or whatever? That can reflect and make the water look greenish.

The spectrum of your light bulb might also give a color to the water. I have some that are older and have gone more "yellow". The newer ones are more "blue".

Could you have a touch of green algae growing on your hood top? It can refect green or yellow look, too.

My untreated well water looks green - but it is full of iron - enough to walk on practically.

I do not own an Oceania tank to look at though. Perhaps someone with one will answer. Meanwhile, next time I am at the tank store I will see if I can find one to look at.

it can't be any medications or algae cause its a new tank! you can only notice it if there is water in it. when i got it, everything looked clear. i have no problem with the tint but i want to make sure its the glass not a problem with the water.

I dont usually notice any sort of coloration to mine. I have a 46g bowfront. HOWEVER if they have eaten alot of veggie matter, the water will tinge. Other than that, Its always really clear.

hmm...then i don't know what's going on. might be the tint the wall has when i look through the tank but i don't really think it's that cause the wall is really white.

I have not found any of that brand of tanks in stores to look at.

One last possibility, though......my water itself (well) contains a fair amount of iron, sulpher and other substances. When I have enough volume of it to look through, it appears to be a clear yellowish color - very pale and very clear greenish yellow. I cannot see this yellow tint in small volumes - only when I am looking through a larger volume does it become apparent. And mostly only when I am looking through large volumes with a white background (white plaster pool surface of the swimming pool for example or a large white plastic bucket of water.) Is it possible that, with a fair volume in your tank, backed up by the white wall, you are seeing iron content in your water?

Apoc88
That might be it. It has to be the water cause i didn't add anything or have anything that would make it look green cause it's new. I need to check my water then. Thanks daryl!
