I was wondering when i should turn on my tank light and how long to leave it on. the tank is in teh leaving room and faces the window. that room doesn't receive direct sunlight but natural light does come through it. so as of now, i don't really see the need to use it but i'm not sure.

goldfish doesnt necessarily need light, but if u got live plants in there, turn on the light for about 8-10 hours a day. If u wanna encourae algae growth, turn it on more than that biggrin.gif i'm currently turning on my light for about 12-13 hours a day to make speed up algae growth cos' i wanna get some bristlenose plecos lol

I have been cutting back my time because of too much brown algae (the ugly kind!) and it's getting better. My tank is also close to a window and even though there are curtains, it still gets some light. So I have cut back to 8-9 hours.
