Full Version: A Few Well Suited Plants
Forum > The Goldfish Topics > Goldfish Tanks > Goldfish plants, & how to set up a planted tank
tinkerbell
well, my latest adventure in regards to my tanks has been to get them all planted.
previously i have had no success in planting and tanks that have my goldies in them. they are far too destructive. laugh.gif
anyho, i have recently been ordering a lot of plants from various sites off the net, and i decided to give a few of them a go in my goldie's tank.
the tank itself is not incredibly light, so i guess these plants will also suit dim aqauriums!

Egeria/Elodea Densa (Goldfish weed)
Hygrophila Salicifolia (Willow Leaf Stricta)
Ludwigia Natans (Red And Green Ludwigia)
Myriophyllum Scabratum (Thick Green Leaved Mygrophyllum)
Hygro Poysperma
Myacca Fluviatillis

i have never had any luck with things like vallis', as the little devils just find them far too tempting!! lol!!

Good luck, Whats your lighting? And substrate? Any fertilizers?
Added CO2? (Flourish, Flourish excel, Root tabs ect? )

tinkerbell
lol!!
okies,
i have a Co2 canister in the nursery tank, and i also add nutrafin plant fertaliser.
i have sand in the tank that i keep them in, and the lighting is at erm, 15watts i think. smile.gif

onions work wonderfully with goldies... I have two, one in my 40 and one in my 10, which are doing great! wish i could say the same for my swords though...

Onion plants become rather large. They usually grow over the surface of the water.

Heres a link for more info on the Onion plant. : http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/OnionPlant.html
