biggrin.gif Just got a 20 gallon high tank(24 1/8 x 12 1/2 x 16 3/43) last weekend. It is still cycling and haven't started running my bubble wand coz the air pump I got didn't have enough umph. I am going to get another one. In your opinion, which air pump is more quiet and efficient: Rena 200 or Marineland Air Master 3000? Or maybe there are better ones. Suggestions are welcome!! Thanks!!!

I have a rena, and the tank used to be in our room, and it was still noisy to me (but not bad) I wrapped it in a wash clothe and it did much better. I now have the fish tank in the dining room, and I dont notice the sound of the pump anymore. All I know is, I had a whisper and it sucked. It was sooo loud no matter what!

I have had, and do have, many types. My Rena is not as quiet as I would like. But it does a good job pumping air. I suspend all my pumps from a rack along the back of the stand - so that they hang in mid-air and do not rest on anything. This cuts down of the vibration noise.

I just got a new Whisper 100, - the new design. It is blue and looks kinda like a flying squirrel's body shape when their legs are outstretches kind of arches and standing on its toes. It is a brand new design and I am very very impressed with the thing. It has been substantially quieter than any other pump I have had in some time - and has remained quiet for the 6 weeks I have owned it. IT is not even suspended.

I think the design is a great improvement over their old ones. smile.gif

Jessica, my son is 1 day younger than your son. He was born 02/24/04. biggrin.gif

I think I will have to go with the Rena 100 as Daryl suggested. Thanks for your replies!!!

Edit: Sorry, I meant Whisper 100. exactly.gif

i have a rena 300 and i got it cuz everyone raved about it. everyone said it was extremely quiet. honestly, it is quiet if you compare the air pumps from the 80's.
its not dead quiet, there still a humm or a buzz coming from it. i recommend sitting the rena on a sock or a foam.

I find all air pumps are relatively quiet when set on top of a sponge wrapped in cloth wink.gif Out of the air pumps I have, The Steller is good and quiet. I don't like to wrap mine in a towel because it sometimes causes the air pump to over heat or get warm, possibly shortening it's life smile.gif
