I think it would be very decorative, but I'm kinda weary. I'm thinking mostly shells that there is no way a goldfish could get go into/get stuck, and maybe a starfish. Would it be okay if I bleached these things? If would will get stuck in the shells, should I wash them out during waterchanges? I don't think I'll keep a starfish in there..something's not right about keeping a sea carcass in a goldie tank.

Sea shells and such from the sea can and most likely will, play havoc with your pH. It is not really advisable to use them in a fresh water tank.

As Daryl says, anything like crushed shells or beach sand (same thing really) will raise your ph a great deal .... also, if i'm not wrong, I think starfish can only survive in saltwater smile.gif

smile.gif I use to have a few shells in the tank, but like Daryl said they do play around with the PH. My shells started falling appart and getting sharp.
Eventually one of my goldies got one stuck in her mouth... but luckly i got it out... so i took all of them out.

I sometimes use rocks i find... but you need to make sure that there safe
for the aquarium.

Thanks alex smile.gif Yah, I'm really low on money and in great need of decorations! Everything is so expensive from the petstore...5 bucks for one plastic plant! I'll be careful if I find anything in the stores or outdoors smile.gif
