This is actually a repost of sorts. I posted the following question in the goldfish tank section.


I got some wonderful advice from Ravenlock and Tinkerbell! Following their advice it looks like I'm leaning towards male guppies, male endlers, white cloud mountain minnows, or bumblebee gobies. It was then that I thought..."Perhaps this is a question better suited for the Tropical Fish" board.

So, now I'm wondering what the rest of the tropical fish keepers would recommend. *PAUSE* So, what would you recommend?

betta. sorry but theres just no room for anything else to be comfortable. All the other fish mentioned like to swim, and a four gallon just wont let them. Dont know about the goby i'm afraid.
For those of us in he uk please remember that american gallons are smaller than u.k gallons, so the 4 gallon u.s is probably about 3 gallon uk.

i would have to agree with Sandy there. i think a betta would be your best option.

im in exactly the same situation there.. i have an empty 3 uk gal tank.. i will get a betta but i was thinking could i put a couple of corys in there too.. im desperate for them!

I agree a betta would be best, or maybe a adf or 2. But im not so sure about that though. Anwyays good luck

oo! Alex is right - African dwarf frogs are great too!!

I like the dwarf frogs, but I don't have any right now. This is going to be a tank for my classroom, and I'd really like fish. I've had clawed frogs at school in the past, but this year I'm planning on getting a pair of oriental fire-bellied toads. I think I'll go for a betta...thanks all.

A betta is a great idea!

I agree, a betta would be great and the kids will probably really love a colourful betta
