Full Version: Is This A Good Deal For This Filter/other Stuff?

Ok, so for awhile I've wanted to add a second filter to my 55, which currently just has the crappy one it came with. I planned on getting one of the Penguin 350 things, since it seemed relatively cheap and a lot of people liked it. I went to Petco today to look for one and it was $55. Way too much.

When I got home, I checked out their website and saw that it was only about $35 there. If I spent $45 or more, though, I could get a discount.

Anyway, here's all the stuff in my cart. Let me know if this is a good deal or if I can get it cheaper elsewhere:

Marineland Penguin 350 BIO-Wheel Power Filter; $36.99

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals pH Down, 1.25 fl. oz.; $3.99 (I need some new stuff anyway)

Tetra Color Fin Sinking Granules for Goldfish, 3.52 oz.; $4.99

TetraFin Goldfish Flakes, 2.20 oz.; $4.99

TetraMin Tropical Flakes; 1 oz.; $3.99

Jungle No More Algae Liquid, 4 fl. oz.; $5.99 (not sure on this one, as I've never used it)

That's all that's in there right now. There are also some filter cartridge things that I may buy, but it says they're for a Penguin 330 model, but the one I'm buying is a 350, so I'm not sure if they'll fit (I did not see any Penguin 330s, so I don't know if it's an old version or what).

The total cost on all this with shipping is just under $62, which is just slightly more than I'd pay for the filter itself in the store, without all the other stuff. I figure this is the way to go, but I want to make sure first.

Yes, but all that other stuff is stuff I actually do need (except the algae stuff, which I could easily just take off). If I add the same or similar products at the other place I save less than $5. I'm not sure if $5 is worth buying stuff I'm unfamiliar with when I can just get what I've used in the past and know I like.

I guess I could just buy the filter from there and get the other stuff in the store where I live. Either way, I have to buy that stuff anyway. My fish are living off the crumbs from the bottom of the jar right now.

Also, I assume these ( http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/produc...id1=2885;pcid2= ) are the filter cartridges I would need for that filter, correct?
