Baby bass??? Would you be getting it from a petstore or from the wild? I've never heard of selling bass in a petstore....capturing them from the wild isn't a good idea. Also, if the bass were kept alive, they would need HUGE amounts of water in an enormous tank. They would grow fast, and definately eat the guppies.
What's your pH? The alkalinity is supposed to be between around/at least 180. I've never heard of it being so low..are you sure? Alkalinity is what keeps your pH stable, and protects against pH swings. with that little of protection, I would be very worried about any fish you have, and I'd try and fix it.

And what would you feed these bass? THey need tons and tons of live food, protien, and what would you do with a two foot fish with a mouth bigger than your fist? You can't let it go again, it might have picked something up.
Stick with pet store tropicals.

I seen something on FishProfiles.Com last night about bass.. It was listed as Sea Bass and it the fish gets to be 78+ inches long o.0 (big fish LoL). It's a carnivore and was supposed to be fed different types of live fish and such LoL
unthinkable90: I hope that's not the same fish you are talking about! o.0

Crappies are actually really pretty fish, and fun to fish for. I love to fish...catch and release.
Unthinkable, bass can NOT eat regualr fish food, they just cant. They need live prey, minnows and such. Sorry for jumping on you like I did, but you have to admit it doesn't sound like a very logical pairing. Maybe you could get some danios or small tetras to keep with your guppies?
atryeu, I think she was talking about large or small mouth bass, they dont get quite as long but they get FAT.
Kissy- .... your crazy.

Chishower: LoL Probably. I don't know why anybody would want a Sea Bass as a pet o.0
I've seen weird things all over the internet. Somebody raising and selling Sturgeon on Aquabid was about the strangest so far LoL. Is somebody going to toss them in their pond and fish for them later on or something? LoL *sigh*
It makes you wonder about some of these people that sell those sort of fish!
That sunfish looked like a marine fish I seen last night too! LoL I think it was at LiveAquaria but it may have been somewhere else...

If I am not mistaken, you get caviar from sturgeon. But I will agree, some fish should not be kept as pets and people keep on insisting on it.
I was in a pet store the other day and they had a shark egg, compleate with unhatched baby shark wiggling around inside. Go figure.

Wow..the things you see in petstores these days!!! I just watched a cartoon where the main charactor went and bought a snake head fish from a petstore. He learned that it was a wild animal and at the end of the show he let it go!!!! Gah, people are stupid. Uhm yah that has nothing to do with the topic, I just wanted to share

Andy: Okay, I may be crazy but I've never been showered by a cow

i never realised how big sturgeon get till i saw one in an aquarium tunnel thing (that you walk thru!) and my mum said they grow to 3m!
