Hey really important, and quick question. Do Plecos burrow at all? I can't find Olive anywhere all day...and I'm a little worried...my plecos are the same size as my goldies so they wouldn't eat her....would they? Please answer me soon...Thanks all.

Hi Oranda's I am getting Jessica to help you out with this....I think they do burrow though, have u tried to move things around a little in the tank? How long ago did olive go missing?
tinkerbell

Yep, put my arm in till it was pruny...haven't seen a thing. I saw Olive last about well, 48 hours ago right after I bought her. I sure hope they burrow really really good. crap.gif

What type of plec is it?, sometimes plecs will wedge themselves tn tight, dark places are you keeping the light on to much? if so turn it off at night and see if he comes out.
Ponderosa Power

Hey all~

Still haven't found her, but I do feel better knowing that they are good hiders...I've turned the lights of for awhile in my tank to see if maybe she'll come out of iding. We'll see; I'll keep you updated. rolleyes.gif

dont want to panic you or anything, but is there any way she could have got out of the tank? i had a loach that did that, and i found his body underneath my bookcase. sad.gif
hope you find her. 00001649.gif

what kind of plec and how big? plecs dont go under the gravel so she must be somewhere in the tank. how big are the goldies?
what about checking your filter? it may be a good idea to take it apart and having a good look inside. apart from that, just check every ornament as they can move around it so it looks like they arent there. Lastly, check around the outside of your tank. good luck and i hope you find your plec.
Ponderosa Power
I'd check around the whole room too....panicked fish flop around alot.

AHHHHH! yikes.gif A re you serious!? Okay...I guess I need to start searching. I have hoods and everything, so I don't know how she wouls manage to get out, but I suppose there's always a way...I looked behind my tank area the day I couldn't find her, and didn't see anything, but I'll look arouns farther outside the tank than I did last time...Oh boy, this is interesting. And by the way my biggest goldie is only maybe an inch bigger than Olive; Kalu couldn't have eaten a whole Pleco that was almpost her size...could she?! ohmy.gif
tinkerbell
well, it is possible. if there is absolutely no sign of her, and you dont think she could have got out, then i think you would have to assume t hat she has been eaten sad.gif
Raith
some plecos burrow, some dont. best of luck finding it, otherwise we would assume it has been eaten. sad.gif
orandas*r*my*heart
Would the other Pleco eat her? Or are we talking about my goldfish eating her? I can't imagine my goldies attacking something their same size, and eating it. They aren't that aggressive. I'm going to be super thorough tinight and I'll let you know what I turn up...if anything. crap.gif
JenW
Any news? <she asks while biting her fingernails>. blink.gif I hope you find her...
orandas*r*my*heart
I think it's official...she must have been eaten. cry3.gif I don't know how though, that would be quite the feat, like I said they are all pretty much the same size. Do you think the other Pleco coud have done it? Surely one of my goldies wouldn't have?! I just hope it was quick.....Thank you all for caring so much....guess I'll be getting Popeye a replacement Girlfriend....

There should be bones at least. strange!

unsure.gif I have more than 15 Pleco's-a few different types. The only thing I've ever seen them burrow under is wood.Loaches are the ones that like to burrow in gravel/sand. I have had two different instances where I found my Albino Bristlenoses in my filter. blink.gif They like the fast moving water coming out,so they tend to "Hang out" once in a while. Both times they were in there, they were fine, but who knows if you don't check.I've also had two Rubberlips that were small. They were put into what I consider the Baby Goldie tank.As soon as the goldies spotted them, they were grabbed. It happened so fast that the Goldies had no idea that they were anything but food.Look between plant leaves-or any ornaments, really good.I have a Ralphael Catfish that I only see about twice a year-He hides really well! laugh.gif His brother's pretty good at it too! rolleyes.gif

Oh no...I'm sorry to hear about Olive. sad.gif
orandas*r*my*heart
Thanks Devs...I have checked my filters, even though there is no way for them to get in anyway...I haven't seen any bones at all either. I'm miffed. Could he have possibly burrowed and died? But even still I have rooted around in there for over an hour the other day and not a trace...I'm at a loss.
