when I came home today, after being gone for 10 hrs- not feeding, my koi was "pooping" this red gel. it's about 2 inches long and in 5 segments. The very top one is spotted black. This is very different than his/her 'normal' poop, which doesn't have a gel consistency. Could it be that my koi is spawning? He/she is only 3 inches long. I've had him for two months. he's in a tank, i know... not enough space (i got hime before i knew) and all my tests are good, ie: 0- am, 0- nitra, .5-nitrI, 7.2ph, etc. I looked around the tank and didn't see anything else similar to it. does anyone have any ideas on what this might be?
thanks Stephanie

No clue, definately not eggs. Your koi isn't big enough to spawn plus it wouldn't be red. You might jump over to koivet.com and ask there?

Sounds like it may be a internal problem. sad.gif Deffinetly not spawning, the fish is way to small for that yet.

Poo should alway's be the color of the food they are eating.

I'm so new with having koi and gold fish, the first year they got eaten, the second year they got eaten. Last year and this year I have been lucky and my fish are huge - only I am not sure what koi or gold fish eggs look like. I have these long, whitish, thin jelly, looking things (almost like a tape worm or something) and wasn't sure if these are eggs or not.
