Anyone have any experience using Aquarium Products medication called "Clout"? It says is treats a wide range of parasites, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how well it works...and how long you had to treat with it.
Thanks!

Why do you want too use clout? There are much better alternatives out there than using clout. Unfortunately most of the good meds you have too order online and clout is readily available.

My experience with clout was not a positive one. It is really strong... and I much prefer other meds out there. Prazi-pro from goldfishconnection.com is the parasite med of choice for me. Also Parasite Clear by jungle is readily available and works well.

That's too bad...I was asking about Clout because it's the only parasite med that I can find around me. I currently don't have a credit card (though hopefully I'll be remedying that soon), so ordering online is out of the question.
What were the problems that you found using Clout? What do you mean by "too strong"?
I'm cautious about treating with anything that I don't know will absolutely do the trick...as one of my fish is very sick, and has been for about 2 months...and no treatments have worked so far.
Any other suggestions for meds? I can always take the Metro (Subway) somewhere, but I'd like to know what I should be picking up.
Thanks for the advice!

When I used clout I was treating for flukes on a new fish that I got that also wasn't eating. In my experience... this fish passed... But I've also read on other posts and chat boards about clout and it's potential to be too strong.

What are you trying to treat for??

Like mentioned above it is normally considered that clout is a very strong med and if you think your fish has had some type of parasite for 2 months the clout might just push it over the edge.
Can you give some more info regarding the water parameters? Maybe the water quality is not what it should be or the fish might have been subjected too one med after another which is not good either. Most of the meds in the pet store out there will also kill your biofilter and even though it kills the parasite, you end up wiping out the good bacteria in the filter and opening up the chances for more parasites too take hold of the fish, not too mention that ammonia and nitrite are toxic too fish.
What is the ph, ammonia, nitrite, and also the kh reading if you can get it?
Without that info and a positive ID on what you are trying too treat for I would suggest too stop medicating and do some regular water changes on a daily basis(25-40%). You could probably also add some salt too the routine and see if this helps. Remember too always use some type of conditioner on the new water and make the temp as stable as possible.

All the info you asked for is posted under the topic: Nitrites finally zero, Fish still sick. Ammonia and nitrite are zero (though nitrites were high up until about a week and a half ago), ph is 7.5, nitrate is zero too. I've treated with salt in the tank and salt dips, Quick Cure, hydrogen peroxide dip, and even tub-to-tub method. My fish doesn't seem any worse, or any better because of any of these treatments. I've also been doing very frequent water changes...currently about 2 a week.
I guess I'm just looking for some more ideas.
