Ok so I just got my first endeavors into the plant world today and my silly silly goldfish think I planted them for their amusement they keep rooting them out! Any suggestions? I don't really want to put them in pots but if it comes to it can I use terracotta?

My chilly willy did the same thing when I got him. I always woke up in the morning with all plants uprooted but he settled down after a couple of weeks

Maybe they're just happy they have something new to play with?!Sorry I know I'm not helping at all

if they are the kind from walmart like the bulbs then you could just wait for the bulbs to get roots then put them in the gravel and they will root really fast

lol.

you could always just root the plants in a bucket and then transfer them to the tank.

Sword plants of on of goldfish's favorite plant to eat, I personally have found that Anubis's are harder for them to eat and they also bloom in the water

Oh great so I just bought them a buffet! Maybe they'll leave it alone they didn't seem to care for the anicharis I bought for them to eat and they don't really like lettuce and the like so maybe my swords will be the same. Probably just wishful thinking

It really depends on the fish. I have one planted tank with goldfish and none of them bother the plants, BUT, I have another tank and the goldfish in that tank just polished off my new water lily. Brats

So they have started to leave my plants rooted but my largest fish is picking the leaves off . He dosn't eat them, he just picks them off and swims away. I maybe headed into the land of silk plants, but I'll wait and see if he tires of his harvest.

I weighted down my remaining plants yes that's right they ate and ate my filant ( i think that's the name) but they have left my swords alone so yea! I will have to make sure the next plants I get are goldies friendly!

Mo kept ripping the tank apart to... now that the plants arnt new, he mostly just nibbles on one sword, leaves everything else alone.. (luckly its a big sword, it can take a nibble or two so far!)
