My beautiful and perfectly healthy goldfish darth is currently lilting to the side and acting very lathargic. It started last evening. He is a black moor - is color is also weakening... and I have no idea what is wrong.
It started after a water change.
I'm about to do another change now.
Please help

Not sure if he has something stuck or not
took him out and did not see anything.
He swims and then lilts. He literally tilts to his side and looks like he is dead.
This started last eve, but then went away and seemed fine all day until this evening. I have added salt and turned off the light because I don't want to add additional stress. I'm just not sure what to do. He is one of my favorites, and I've had him for quite some time and will be devastated to lose him.

Is he pooping okay? Does it look kind of like he has the floaties? like swim Bladder issues? Have you had darth as long as the tanks been set up?What does the color of his gills look like?

He has in the past had floaty issues... but primarily up and down not side to side. He's fairly big... and this new behavior is strange and unlike him....
I'm not quite sure what is going but I'll fast him for a couple of days to see if that helps...

I've had Darth for 2 1/2 years
He is about 5-6 inches - beautiful black moor
I added Leia in November of last year.
Darth is still not doing well... on bottom of tank curled on his side.
Worried he will not make it the night

HAve you checked water params again? When was the last time you did a water change?Did you treat the water and match temps? What test kit are you using? What salt % are you dosing-how much & how did you put it in? Are there no other visible signs other than that he was tilting on side for a while, and is now on bottom? What made you think that he had a rock lodged?

I appreciate all of the replys.
Darth passed away this morning.
He was the most beautiful fish. And we were so lucky to have been his parents for so long.
I still have no idea what took his life. But I am just glad that he isn't suffering any more.
His tank mate Leia seems to be doing fine. But will keep a close watch on her.
Thank you again for the advice and help.

I am so sorry to hear he passed away. This came on quickly huh? With that happening it is stumping on what it could've been. Perhaps a tumor that ruptured??? You may never know, I would keep a close eye on the other fish though.
Sorry again.
