is it ok to salt a tank to 0.3 with a pleco in it or not?? im begining to salt for ick and wanted to know if it would be safe for my bristle plec
Devs
smile.gif I have had no reason to put salt in any of my tanks, that hold any of the Plec's,so I can't really tell you an answer. What I can say is that most things I've read tell you that they fall into the "Scaleless fish Category" and that salt may not be handled well.Of course there have been people that say that they've used salt-some say half the dosage, and claim their fish had no problems. If you want to check out more facts & do a little more research, check outPlanet Catfish They are one of the best sites for info.Good luck! smile.gif

I was told at a local aquatic store that they are fine at the 0.1 salt solution and that they maintain their tanks at the store at that level. I'm not sure about the 0.3 solution though, sorry.

maybe my plec didnt like the salt.... he jumped into the filter last nite. i found him this morning and he was still fine. smile.gif im still wondering how he can jump like that???

other than the fact that he jumped out i guess hes fine. not been acting unusual at all. just staying behind the intake and the heater until nite falls.
