according to Koko's list of compatible fish...
http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/comfish.html

the rubbernose and bristlenose pleco's are listed.
(I thought these fish are tropical fish and need a heater) ???

Goldfish are coldwater fish and don't need a heater.
so you can put a bristlenose pleco in a coldwater tank ??

Are you sure about that??

I am sure Pandemonium because I have bristlenose in 2 of my tanks.

It is only recommended if your tank temp doesn't usually fall below 68F/18C.

If you are transferring them from a heated tank at the lfs to an unheated tank, extra time needs to be taken to acclimatise them, a couple of hours should do it. Float the bag and gradually add small amounts of tank water.

i did NOT know that !!

i always thought bristlenose/rubbernose needed a "heated" tank huh.gif blink.gif

that is very interesting, because i thought the ONLY pleco that is coldwater was the hong kong pleco (Hillstream loach).
which is impossible to find here in sydney!

thanks for the info !!

and how big is your tank??

also, do u know where to find hillstream loaches?
i can't find any in sydney (do u know any shops)
I want 1 because they are purely coldwater fish

Sorry, I haven't seen any hillstream loaches but it doesn't mean they aren't out there. Mostly I just check out the goldies.

Both tanks are 30g with assorted size goldfish, very large to very small. One tank has telescopes and the other tank has pearlscales. I gave up trying to feed them specific food because the goldies would just get it. They eat algae, driftwood and scrounge around for goldfish flakes.

It's really important to provide them with driftwood, it's their #2 foodsource after algae.
