I have noticed a lot of the goldfish waste is getting stuck in the nooks and crannies of the glass marble i have in the tank and the ugf is probably not helping...but i was wondering would a loach or any other compatible fish eat the goldfish waste someone told me any algae eater would eat the left over waste but i want to be sure before i purchase one...thanks
by the way i don't have a test kit to test water but there a suspicious black marks on one out of the two fish...im suspecting ammonia burns.
im begining to lose hope in my ugf

I have used UGF's and in my opinion, they are not suitable on their own for a goldfish tank. You should add another filter to the tank. I would suggest a hang on the back type filter, such as an AquaClear or a Penguin.

I would suggest regular gravel vacuums to get rid of any excess waste in the gravel and nooks and crannies.

Thanks after thinking about it i got a whisper filter when i went to the petstore they said that catfish would do the trick but it would not help the ammonia problem..they don't eat liquid.

catfish do not eat fish waste they eat algae. your petstore wants to sell fish and will say anything to do it. the only thing that gets rid of waste is you with a syphon tube. catfish will considerably add to this waste so i wouldnt get a catfish.

Ghost shrimp eat fish waste.

This question always gets me krazy.gif

Ok, some fish might eat goldie waste, only because goldfish don't have very efficient digestive systems.

HOWEVER

The animal that eats the goldfish poop will digest this and then... POOP!

So you still have poop in the gravel because it won't eat its own poop afterwards!
