Hi
since I got my new pond I put 4 very very small comets. they look so tiney. I really want a koi. Do u think I can get one and my pond be ok and not over stocked. Im going to the pet shop tommorrow.

it depends on the size of your pond.....

Hi Steph,
Koi need a minimum of 250 gls each. One has to keep in mind the fish can attain someplace in the 32-36" bracket full grown. So it depends on the pond size, goldies in a pond are generally the bigger species, comets, shebunkins, and even they need more room then fancy's do since they grow larger. Giving them 50 gls, though some say as high as 100 gls each.

If you are talking about putting a Koi in the new 20 gallon one you just got there is no way that you can get a koi. That is no where near enough room for a Koi.
