-Ammonia Level Nitrite Level? Nitrate level? Ph Level? The Fish shop guy said it's all fine
-Ph Level out of the Tap? 7
-Tank size(How many Gals) and How long has it been running? 28 L and since march 23rd
-What kind of Filtration? under gravel
-How often do you change the water and how much? every 2-3 weeks and about a quarter of the tank
-What kind of Water additives or conditioners? umm, water conditioner, I'm not sure which brand as I threw the enpty bottle away.
-Any Medications add to the tank? Snail Away, but I was told it wouldnt affect the fish
-How many fish in the tank and there size? 2, they are both goldfish one is orange and white, and the other is a comet i think, big fanny tail fin.
-Add any new fish to the tank? they both went in a few weeks ago
-What do you feed your fish? umm, these goldfish flakes, they are made of plant
-Any unusual findings on the fish? Such as "grains of salt", bloody streaks, frayed fins, fungus? YES, it has this kind of blackness on it, at first it was only a small patch around one of the fins so I thought I'd leave it but next thing I know its pretty much entirly covered.
-Any unusual behavior? Like staying at the bottom, not eating, ect..? The other fish seems to be attacking it, it doesnt move much, it also floats under the other fishes side and they kind of rub eachother i think.
-If you can what is the chloramines Level from the Tap? no idea what that is.

So, yes. If you want I can take a photo of it.

Also, I have a bubble eye in there and 4 white clouds. When I introduced the 2 new fish I noticed the white clouds acting odd, 2 where sitting on the bottom, and the other 2 floating on the top. Then I decided to clean my tank right out when my bubble eye (Nemo) stopped looking so good. I think he had poppy eye, one of his eyes was definatly bulging. he started laying on his side then died. the white clouds each died in turn. Then this morning the final cloud died. If you knwo anything about this it'd be helpful. I also had a bunch of little snails in there, my friend who has tropical fish said the snails arent good because they get everywhere.

I was just looking at some other topics and saw a symptom of something was darting about and pimlpes like things. My other goldfish has a single white pimple type thing on its tail and just this morning I was playing playstation and noticed it darting about the tank frantically, I assumed it was charging it's shadow because my old fighting fish used to do it often btu I'm not so sure...

Hi there Beauseph and welcometo.jpg

It would be such a big help if you could take another sample of your water to your lfs and ask them if they'd kindly write down the necessary parameters.... Unfortunately I am skeptical about your water quality as you have so many fish in such a small tank - 28L equates to 7 gallons and as fish are messy little things - they'll be producing a great deal of waste. Plus i'm sure you want them to grow big and healthy and as such, they'll need around 10gal each. Forgive me if I sound dumb but I'm still trying to figure out exactly how many fish you have? Is it 2 goldies, 1 bubble eye and 4 whiteclouds? If so - then you should really have a tank that holds around 40gal (or 150-160 litres) blink.gif

Based on the current size of your tank, you should really be doing 50% waterchanges every 3rd or 4th day - just to keep the nitrates at a healthy level smile.gif

With the black covering - it could be ammonia burn which is on the mend. And yes please, a photo would be an enormous help. You can open an account at http://www.photobucket.com then upload your pics. Once you've uploaded your pics, copy the url link. Then when you reply to this thread, you will see an IMG button above - click on this and paste the url into the box.... this should upload your images smile.gif

Now for the bad news - it sounds as if you're harbouring a parasite in your tank, which could well have been introduced with your new fish.... So in the shortterm, you could try an immediate 50% waterchange using your dechlorinator and it's important to match your temperature and ph. Then dissolve 7 teaspoons of salt (rock, sea or aquarium would be great) in some tank water then add to your tank. After 12 hours, repeat by adding another 7 teaspoons of salt and then 12 hrs after that - add a further 7 teaspoons... this will give you 0.3% salinity. Hopefully whatever your fish have will perish with the salt but if you see no improvement, it may be time to try something else.

So in summary:

- perfect water is a great start so 50% waterchange
- add the first 7 teaspoons of dissolved salt (then repeat as outlined above)
- check to see if there's any improvement otherwise post back asap
- if you are able, please start thinking about a bigger house for them

Hopefully this helps a little smile.gif

No, the bubble eye died along with the white clouds. So there was only 2 goldfish in there. I went to a party and got home the next day, I felt like crap so I went stright to bed, slept for 9 hours, then got up for 2 went back to sleep for 12 hours. When I woke up I saw the one with the black stuff was dead, he had no scale that I could see and he was completely white...

So you suggest taking 50% water out and replacing it. Then take some water out, put 7 spoons of salt in it then put it back in the tank and repeat 12 hours later then again 12 hours after that?

And is the little pimple thing a parasite?
JenW
Quite possibly the pimple is broght on by some parasite - but impossible to tell until you let us know what your water parameters are. So sorry about your fish - you say it turned white? Do you know if it was before or after it's demise?

Yes, i'd do a waterchange quickly... then dissolve the first 7 teaspoons of salt in tank water (before you add it to the tank) ... that's 1 teaspoon per gallon and you tank is 7 gallons - this gives you 0.1%. The repeat after 12 hours and again 12 hours after that - giving you a total of 0.3%.

Do your other fish show any symptoms? Are the sores spreading?

Beauseph
No, that's the only one. Is table salt alright to add to the water? I just tested the pH again and it's 7, I might go to the aquarium if I go out today and get them to test some water.
