Full Version: When To Pick Buds Off Runners?
Forum > The Goldfish Topics > Goldfish Tanks > Goldfish plants, & how to set up a planted tank

A few of the A. Swords have a pretty large amount of leaves/roots from the buds and are weighting the runners down. The leaves about 2-3 inches in length and I've got about 11 of them, is it a good time to take them off? and how should I go about doing so?

Pictures up soon as the battery is done charging.

Yes, I would take them off. Do you want to take the whole runner off or just some of the individual plants?

I took some off, just the individual plants. Some runners still have teeny tiny leaves emerging.

Here's the biggest 3 along with the mother plant in the female betta tank.

I also have a couple of A. Swords, and they are constantly sprouting little babies off of them. They look plenty big enough to take them off. I notice the sooner I get them off, the better my Big A. Sword does, and all of my babies have done wonderfully. LOL, I had to take all my plants out of the tank while I was treating for ick, and they went in a 20 or 40 gallon rubber maid, and I ji,mi rigged the light on there, and well, they doubled and tripled in size in there, and I had like 20 babie A. swords coming off, that I took off today, and are not planted nicely.

I saw your tank! Lovely I must say. Haha, mayve I'll stick my plants in a tub with super lights and get a few more. That's awesome. rofl3.gif
