I have a 10 gallon tank with one apple snail and over 40 baby black ramshorn! They will not stp breeding! What should i do?

Thanks!

look for the rams eggs on the glass, usually little gelly like globs, and wipe them off. these will be under water. and, also, if you happen to miss a couple of clutches, the apple snail would probably eat them smile.gif

If you can get the numbers under control first, you can put some fishies in there that will eat new eggs/hatchlings

I dont see eggs, i see little yellow spots together and then the next day they will have moved and they are done under the rocks where i can not wipe them off!
Thanks!

well, get rid of them as soon as you see them!! dont wait untill they have hatched!!

If you do ever find eggs or whatever, don't just throw them out, they may hatch. Always boil them before you thow them out.

Ramshorn's are very hard to keep in check once they start breeding. As gross as it may sound,I know alot of people that actually find the clear globs of eggs & "squish" them with their finger. crap.gif Certain fish also help by eating them.I have Ramshorns in my one smaller goldie tank,& although they're in there, you never see the babies so someone is apparently finding the eggs & keeping them under control. rolleyes.gif One thing that you can also do to cut down the breeding,is to cut down on the amount of feeding that you're doing in that tank. You'll be surprised at the reduced amount of snails that you find if you do that. I've had unwanted RAmshorns for about a year now.I've actually reduced the number's alot, but they're still not gone yet. ohmy.gif

My goldfish are large and actually keep the ramshorn snails under control. However, I could not control them in my tropical tank. I used to pick them out by hand until I added a couple of clown loaches. They are very nice fish and help keep snail pops under control.

same here, my big goldies kept them in check. even as i would find them in the small fishes tanks, i would pull them out and give em to the big girls, they'd munch right through them smile.gif and if you have trops, the clown loaches would be a good way to go. I just saw some at walmart tonight smile.gif
