Here is the formula you can use

Length (ft.) x Width (ft.) x Average Depth (ft.) x 7.5 = volume of water

Or there are sites that have a calculator handy for you, I've noticed that some come up with different answers not sure why

http://www.fishpondinfo.com/calc.htm

http://www.watergardeningdirect.com/Advice...eCalculator.htm

http://www.koicarp.net/pond_calc.htm

http://www.pumpsandspares.com/volcalculator.htm

There are a lot of them as you can see

I did the formula and it added up to 6275.0. Is that gallons, liters or the volume? I thought it was litres so i did it as liters and it came to 1300 something gallons, that doesnt sound right at all. The length is 7 ft. the width is 5 ft. and the depth is 20 inches. Anyone know how many gallons it is? krazy.gif

7 X 5 X 1.8(20inch) X 7.5 = 472.5 gallons

This is the easiest I've found:

Tank calculator

It says "436 US gallons" and "Wow! That's quite a tank!" biggrin.gif

I found a small tub in the garage.Just wondering how many gallons it is.
It's round and the diameter=20 inches,deepness=7 inches.

'Bout 9.5 gallons.

That came from my head, by the way... not go0gle. biggrin.gif

Thanks biggrin.gif I'm not a math lover. ignore.gif sorry to the math lovers unsure.gif

The formula I use to compute gallons is just

(cubic inches) / 231.

Finding cubic inches depends on the shape of the container, but if it's a rectangle it's just

(length) x (width) x (height)

with all sides measured in inches.

Edit: Thought I had a pic of me in my "Math Masters" shirt around here somewhere... guess not.
