This is a response to the forum topic "Fungus I Think".
My Sofi, the one I posted the topic for died overnight. I am adding a new post so that I will get a faster response. I need to know what to do for the other fish. I'm sorry if that is against the rules? I just want to make sure I am doing all that I can for them. I don't want to lose another fish.

I posted the "Fungus I Think" topic because my BubbleEye gf Sofia got one of her bubbles caught against the intake tube of the filter two days ago. I was able to just gently nudge her and she was free. I have not had a problem with this with my other two BubbleEyes. But Sofia was smaller and I guess weaker. Anyway, yesterday tiny blood vessels where showing up in her bubble and she was resting at the bottom of the tank all day, except for when I fed them. In addition it looked like there was a small cotteny stuff growing on the outside of the bubble. So last night I bought Fungus Tabs and put one in. And left it at that to see if she would get better.
Then this morning I found that Sofia did not make it threw the night. When I went to bed late last night, she was in her corner where they all sleep. The current is low there, blocked by a rock. The intake tube is at the opposite end of the tank. Anyway, to my horror when I got up this morning, Sofi's lifeless little body was wrapped around the side of the intake tube. I don't know if she was trying to sleep in a different place and passed during the night and then got swept over there? I am praying that is what happened. But one of her bubbles was completely gone...inside the tube. The medicine for the fungus said to take out the carbon in the filter. So I took out that little pad...I don’t know it that might have made the current stronger? I have had my fish for 7 months and none of them have had a problem with the intake tube until now. Sofi was the smallest and weaker of them. She had chronic SBD, bubble infections, ect. I keep telling myself this is probably better in the long run, she is in animal heaven. But I feel horrible still.

As for my other two fish. I have replaced the carbon thing into the filter. What else do I need to do for them as far as the tank goes? Do I need to do some pretty big water changes now? The tank is still green from the Fungus tap I put in last night. Can Sofia being dead in the tank over night, harm my other two fish in any way? Please let me know what I need to do for them? (Besides making sure the intake tube is not a threat to them)

Thanks
Emily

This is my suggestion.Clean about 50% of the water. Then add another tablet to make sure. Then change most of the water after the green color of the water is gone.

I wouldn't worry about anything being contagious. From the way it sounds she died of her injuries and not something "catchy". I wouldn't continue the meds, add the carbon back and keep an eye on the water quality.

As far as the intake tube there are things to put around them. The lfs should be able to tell you. Others here use a mess to stop this kind of accident from happening.

Good luck.
