I decide to try some ghost shrimps with my goldies.
I know goldies might eat them but will the goldfish get injured while eating it?
How big do they grow and will they harm the fish in any way?

Gold Ryu
Can they choke on them?
smack536
how big are your goldfish? if the goldies are big enought, the shrimpies cant hurt them.
smack536
oh, shrimpies only get to about 1 inch, max. sometimes they preg girls will get a bit bigger/fatter but thats about it.

they wouldnt choke on them, once they get them in their mouths and feel em wiggling, they chew for a looooooooooong time biggrin.gif
Gold Ryu
Thanks for the reply smile.gif
Gold Ryu

i was thinking of getting some too

do you have to get them as pairs or just one?
my comets are 4 inches will it be compatable?

what do you have to feed them?
Gold Ryu
Goldies make a nice meal out of them unless they have hiding places.
They don't have to be kept in pairs. And i think they just eat left over?Or algea?
smack536
well, they ususally sell them like 4 for a $1 so thats the easiest way to get em.

If your commets are 4 inches, then the shrimps will be food, unless you have tons and tons of hiding places.

as for food, they eat wahtever they find, sometiems in my tanks that have tons of them and that have babies, Ill drop in a few algae wafers for them, or a piece of sinking fish food.
Gold Ryu
Thanks Smack your an expert at this. exactly.gif

ghost shrimps are bottom dwellers, they ocassionally swim to the surface, they do well with plenty of java moss or whatever plants. i feed them flake foods.
Gold Ryu
You mean goldy flake food? huh.gif
Raith
yes. goldfish flakes. guppy flakes. pellets. they will eat anything that they can get their pinchers on.
Gold Ryu
Thanks biggrin.gif
Gold Ryu
How much room do they need?
smack536
not too much, a few can inhabit a tank with goldies just fine (i.e. 20 gal, 2 gf, alright for like, 8-12 shrimpies)

I have like, no joke, 40 or so in one of my 20's, dont let there be THAT many!! blink.gif
Gold Ryu
I guess i'll keep two of them with my goldies smile.gif
smack536

any reason you picked 2?? since tehy usually come 4 together? LOL
Gold Ryu
