smile.gif I have 4 koi and 12 goldfish in my pond for 3 weeks they are getting alittle closer to me can anyone tell me what I can do to help them get use to me thanks cool.gif

Feed in the same spot. ONLY feed when they beg for the food. BUT don't feed too much, twice a day during the summer is enough. During this period of getting them used to you feed less than you normally would (still twice daily). This will get them to come to the feeding area sooner. Koi that are taken to koi shows or shipped via snail mail are not fed for approx. a week so they will be fine when you start feeding them less in order to get them to come to you. When they get used to you watching them eat you can start to teach them to eat out of your hand. Remember sudden movements will set all of the work you've done back, once they get used to you the sudden movements wont bother them. In fact once they get used to you they will be begging for food everytime they see you!

My largest koi likes her belly rubbed and doesn't mind having her head patted. She nips at the dog's nose and feet LOL.

I've heard koi can live a whole winter w/o being feed. Is this true?
Gold Ryu

rofl3.gif Cocktail or salad shrimp make for good bribery, also a bit of garlic on your fingers will help.

Scott, nothing wrong with pond mutts...... biggrin.gif
