whut kind of loach is it? Alot of loaches (not sure of all of them, but alot) do a whole lot of NOTHING for algea. Algea wafers they might eat, but usually they will just eat your fish food. I treat my dojo loach the same as my goldies.

Loches are bottom feeders, they eat the left overs, but don't
eat algea,(If im not mistaken). Mine loves frozen blood worms, tropical
fish flakes. And a number of other types of foods.

I don't have loaches but once gave my goldies algae wafers and they went nuts eating--it was like watching piranhas!

As the previous posters have mentioned, it depends on the type of loach that you have. For example, dojo loaches don't eat algae and will eat the same diet as your goldfish. My dojos love gel food, shrimp pellets and ProGold pellets smile.gif

On the other hand, Chinese hillstream loaches are primarily algae eaters, but will eat pellets and veggies after they have been in captivity for a while. Your tank should have a good coating of algae before you introduce hillstream loaches.
