is a shusui but they both look like shusui to me
does anyone know witch is which???
Fishmerised
I was just about to ask you the same question. laugh.gif However, both those fish (whatever they are) are my favourite type of koi. The ones with the varigated scales along the spine.

Looks like a lovely bunch to me, what are their sizes and where did you go to the auction?
Scott
Nice fish. The one on the left is definately Shusui, the one on the right looks more like Shusui to me because of the big scales all over the top. But Shusui are Doitsu. Asagi have small scales, heres an example.

Of course my largest Shusui has three rows of big scales up towards it's head then it tapers to two rows. Is the fish on the right scaless below the scales which we can see clearly on the picture? If so it's Shusui. But there are people that call a Shusui a German Scale Asagi because the Doitsu (scaless) was created in Germany.

Just looked at your first picture again, the fish on the right looks to be Doitsu midway down and around it's belly. It's shusui. Both would be considered Hi Shusui because of the amount of red on the sides of their heads. They are both beautiful but I am partial to the one on the left. It also looks like it could be what is called a pearl Shusui because of the lighter scales with maybe some gin rin (sparkle) in them?

just a question Scot, do u think this one is a ogon?

I love the Auburn Botanical Gardens, best time is Spring when all the blossoms are out. I don't think I'll get there, it's a bit of a hike and I might get carried away with the atmosphere and come home with koi. laugh.gif It must be a bit of a hike for you too, aren't you on the sth side? If you ever get out west it's worth a look at the Sth Windsor Fish Hatchery, he specialises in those koi with the varigated scales. He might even be at the auction, his name is Matt.
slipperylittlesucker
sorry im living on the east side
but can u give me the address for windsor hatchery

Nice fish SLS.

South Windsor Fish Hatchery is at 752 George Street, South Windsor.
They have a web site with a map, try Yahooing it, I cant' remember.
It is on the corner of a big roundabout with Richmond Road.

Hubby says there are a couple of different ways to get there from Liverpool, it would be too confusing to write them all down, your best bet is a street directory. Whichever way you go it takes the same time, between 45mins and an hour depending on how you drive and the traffic.

If you go take your camera and post some pics. I haven't been out since we got our new camera a couple of weeks ago.
slipperylittlesucker
yes i found the address
now i gotta find the best way to getting there
i dont want to get lost
by the way i drive i probably get there in 30min
i should pay more attention to the road signs
anyways thanks once again
heres a pic just for u wink.gif

There is no direct route from Liverpool, it all goes round in circles.

One way is to get to M4, take Cumberland Hwy exit and follow Old Windsor Road all the way to Windsor, then turn right at the lights at George Street. Follow George St to it's end at Richmond Rd.

Another way is to stay on the M4 until Northern Rd exit (Penrith), follow Northern Rd all the way to Windsor and you emerge on Richmond Road just near the roundabout.

I'd like to see you do that in 30 minutes. laugh.gif It takes about 20mins from my place at St. Marys, but then I'm the driver who used to drive at 50km before the speed limits where reduced.

I went out there today actually, just to take a look and feed the fish. Must be the first time I've been there and never bought anything.

That last pic is a beautiful fish, I saw some similar today. I was playing a game pretending which fish I was going to pick, and I must have picked about 50! Each time a different one swam by it was "Oooh, look at that one".
slipperylittlesucker
haha thats so funny
i was actually doing that at the auction(pen in hand and all)
the only reason i stop bidding at the auction was because i ran out of money
and because they dont accept credit card( what a shame eh)
i've never seen so many $50 leave my hand so quickly rofl3.gif
its so hard to make and so easy to lose laugh.gif

and with the driving, im sure i could get there in 30 flat
u know us P platers- worst drivers on the road
i actually got caught by police earlier this year but he only cautioned me
i got off light , somehow i talked my way out of it
i guess going to law classes really pays off

That's why I wouldn't go to an auction. laugh.gif It's hard enough for me to control myself in a normal atmosphere - imagine the atmosphere at an auction! I guess the only thing one could do is actually take a limited amount of money, that way you can't spend more than you've got.

I really had to keep talking myself out of a koi on Monday, "awe, just one little koi in the tub wouldn't hurt", but I know it would. It's a bit like buying a Great Dane puppy for a house dog because it's small and fluffy. rofl3.gif

I'm not gonna make any comments on your driving because it'll sound like I'm nagging. wink.gif
Marco
hey great pics! get more!
slipperylittlesucker
speaking about dogs
thats exactly the reason why i started keeping fish in the first place
i couldnt get a dog because of the size of my house and the fact
that there is not one even one patch of grass
so naturally fish was the next best option
my oranda is one fish that can make one of those puppy face
that says 'pick me pick me'
here take a look for yourself

with koi its a bit different, they tend to make the goofy face
u kinda feel sorry for them and thats why u bring them home -look at my pic above, theres just something about his eyes

fishmerised u and i are spending too much time with koi
i think were better off going to watch the whales on the east coast
i think they are migrating north at this time of the year
that way we wont be tempted to even consider buying koi
Fishmerised
Sure, I'll go whale watching if it means I can go to Byron Bay. laugh.gif Who knows, might even be tempted to bring a little bitty one back home to the tub. hah.gif
